FAQ

1.      What materials are used in Barclay Products?

Barclay Products are made using premium materials carefully chosen for both durability and design appeal. These include brass, stainless steel, vitreous china, natural stone, acrylic, copper, concrete, fire clay, BARstone, and bamboo.

Every product is crafted to meet Barclay’s standards for performance, longevity, and timeless design.

2.      Which Barclay finishes are living finishes?

A living finish is an unsealed surface that naturally changes over time, developing a unique patina as it reacts to air, moisture, and touch. This aging process highlights the authentic character of the material.

At Barclay, Copper and Bamboo are our only living finishes. All other finishes are sealed to maintain long-term consistency in color and sheen.

Copper will naturally oxidize and develop a rich patina that deepens over time.

Bamboo, being an organic material, will show subtle changes in tone and texture depending on use and environment.

3.      How should I clean and maintain my Barclay Products?

To preserve your product’s finish, we recommend gentle cleaning with mild soap and water. Use a soft cloth and avoid harsh chemicals, abrasive pads, or acidic cleaners that can damage the surface or protective coatings.

For copper and bamboo, expect natural variations and allow the finish to evolve over time. If you prefer to maintain the original appearance, consult our care guide for finish-specific maintenance tips.

4.      Where are Barclay Products manufactured?

Our products are sourced through trusted global manufacturing partners who meet Barclay’s strict standards for quality and craftsmanship. Each product is individually inspected and tested to ensure performance and durability that align with our brand promise.

5.      What is California Proposition 65?

California Proposition 65 (also known as the Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986) requires businesses to provide warnings about potential exposure to certain chemicals known to the State of California to cause cancer, birth defects, or other reproductive harm.

6.      Do Barclay Products meet ADA compliance standards?

The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) outlines design standards that ensure accessibility in both commercial and public spaces. These standards often involve specific requirements for height, clearance, reach, and ease of use.

While Barclay Products are not formally ADA-certified, many of our items may be suitable for use in ADA-focused installations, depending on the specific application and local code requirements. Because ADA compliance is determined by the overall installation—not just the product—we recommend consulting with your local building inspector or a licensed design professional to confirm that the selected product meets the necessary standards for your project.

7.      What is Barclay Products’ return policy?

Barclay accepts returns within 1 year from the date the product is received. All items must be unused, uninstalled, and in their original packaging, and all returns must be pre-approved with a valid Return Authorization (RA) number.

Customer-Initiated Returns (Buyer’s Remorse, etc.)

If the return is due to customer preference or error:

  • The customer is responsible for the return freight back to Barclay.
  • A 25% restocking fee applies.
  • Credit is issued once the item is received at Barclay and confirmed to be in saleable condition.
  • The 25% restocking fee may be waived if the customer places a new order of equal value.

Barclay-Initiated Returns (Our Error)

If the return is due to a Barclay error—such as a mis-shipment or incorrect product information:

  • Barclay will provide a prepaid shipping label for the return.
  • Upon receipt of the returned item, we will either send the correct product or issue credit, per the customer’s preference.

Custom / Special Orders

Custom or special-order items may not be eligible for return. Please contact Customer Service or your point of purchase to confirm eligibility.

8.      What warranty does Barclay Products offer?

Barclay Products offers a one-year limited warranty covering defects in material or workmanship under normal residential use. This warranty applies only to the original purchaser and begins on the date of purchase.
If a defect is found within the warranty period, Barclay will, at its discretion, repair, replace, or issue credit for the product.
Normal wear, misuse, or improper installation are not covered. For full warranty details, please refer to our Warranty Information page.

9.      What should I do if my product arrives damaged or if items are missing?

We take great care in packaging our products, but occasionally damage or shortages may occur during shipping. Please inspect all items upon delivery and report any damaged or missing items within 5 days of receiving the order to claim credit.

To file a claim, contact the place of purchase or reach out to our Customer Service Team with your order details and photos of the issue. We recommend noting visible damage on the carrier’s delivery receipt and retaining all packaging until the matter is resolved. Barclay Products will work promptly with you or your retailer to address the concern.

10.  Does Barclay Products provide installation services or instructions?

Installation services are not part of our offering. Proper installation is essential to ensure optimal product performance, so we recommend working with a licensed plumber or qualified professional who is experienced in fixture installation.

11.  Can I place an order for pickup?

Yes, you can — however, all orders must be placed through one of our authorized dealers. Please refer to our Dealer Map to find a location near you.

12.  Do you offer custom-painted bathtubs?

PRODUCT FAQ

Below are helpful installation details for select Barclay Products components. These notes are intended to assist professional installers and provide additional clarity for common connection questions.

1.      How do I connect shower risers to faucets?

When connecting shower risers (such as 196R-CP) to faucets (such as 4000-PL-CP or 4072-PL-CP), please note that the faucet body is not internally threaded. Follow the steps below for proper assembly and sealing:

Steps:

  1. Prepare the riser: Slide the nut from the riser onto the pipe, followed by the cone washer (narrow end facing downward).
  2. Connect to faucet: Insert the cone washer into the faucet inlet and tighten the nut securely to create a watertight seal.
  3. Stabilize the riser: The connection may feel slightly flexible. For added support, install a 6" wall support bracket near the top of the riser.

2.      How do I maintain my Air Jet Massage System?

Barclay’s Air Jet Massage System is designed for easy maintenance and long-term reliability. The system features an automatic purge that drains and dries the jets after each use, helping to prevent stagnant water and build-up.

Maintenance Tips:

  • For best performance, activate the blower when draining the tub, even if the air system wasn’t used during bathing. This triggers the automatic purge.
  • To remove calcium deposits, fill the tub with a few inches of water, add white vinegar, and allow the jets to soak. This will help dissolve mineral build-up.
  • The system operates on 120V power and includes a 750-watt blower with a 300-watt air heater for pre-warmed air.
  • The automatic timer shuts off after 20 minutes for safety.

Note: The Air Massage system can be added to most Acrylic, Copper, or Resin tubs without claw feet, but is not available for cast iron tubs.

3.      How do I unclog an air jet?

If a jet becomes clogged, follow these simple steps to restore proper airflow:

  1. Remove the white jet cap.
  2. Using pliers, carefully remove the cross insert located inside.
  3. Turn on the jets — the marble inside will float. Use the magnet from the remote to hold the marble in place.
  4. Once the marble is floating freely, turn off the blower and reassemble the jet.

⚠️ Important: Always turn off power to the system before disassembly or cleaning. Refer to the product video or contact our Customer Service Team for additional guidance.
